"End of Life Choices" Bill Defeated and Other News

I actually read something in the paper this morning that I was not expecting:

In a vote that surprised people on both sides of the issue, the House on Wednesday defeated a bill that would have allowed doctors to help terminally ill patients hasten their deaths.

The 82-63 vote, which came after almost four hours of debate, ends the legislation's chances for the two-year session.

Voting yes, 55 Democrats; 4 Progressives; 2 Republicans; 2 Independents

Voting no, 46 Republicans; 35 Democrats; 1 Progressive

The full story is here. (If they move the link, it is in the top news today.)

In other news, six demonstrators were arrested protesting at Congressman Peter Welch's office. Recognize any of the names? Here's a hint: Snarky Boy was there, too.

Okay, I hate to say this, but it's back to bed for me. Trust me, I would rather be blogging, but I can't seem to stop the room from spinning.

Have a good one!
