Election Coverage

It was a sad night for the channel 17 election coverage. Usually, the candidates go right over to channel 17 and they have the results, as well as candidate interviews. I was there myself last year as the GOP Chair (and a losing City Council candidate). The place is always hopping and the coverage is great.

This year, the election results were all tabulated at City Hall, instead of ward by ward, so all of the candidates were there. Channel 17 still had great coverage, with crews at City Hall, but it was not the same. The studio was dead and you could tell that the hosts were disappointed at the change.

They still had the results first, for the home viewers. They are still the best place to go for local political coverage. And when Burlington Telcom is up and running, they will have the ability to broadcast live from City Hall.
